In the 10th installment of his autobiographical "Continents
of Exile" series, Mehta shares his life-changing experience
of building a home in Dark Harbor, on the island of Islesboro,
Maine. As he describes the typical struggles associated with the
architectural process, the blind Indian-born author relates a
psychological journey of putting down roots in America while longing
for love and family. Having learned to live in Manhattan as if
he had sight, he must attempt to navigate his new world in relative
silence. Mehta's memoir candidly explores a path to discovery
that emerged from a rite of passage.
